"Su Nichél is a collective of 5 people brought together by a shared motivation: making music that reminds people of the power of child-like wonder and imagination. The band has a sound which is unmistakably its own, drawing as much from jazz and rock as from ethnic and folk music. They have found inspiration in the Aka pygmies with their intensely rhythmic singing, as well as in folk revolutionist anthems with their fiery passion, but also to modern developments in jazz such as outlandish harmonies and broken beats. In addition to a number of performances in Rotterdam jazz clubs, since their inception Su Nichél have performed at the Breda Jazz Festival, in the 2021 and 2023 editions of North Sea Round Town and were semifinalists in the 2022 edition of the prestigious KvE Awards.
